Guided Adventure Activities
At its heart, John Knox Ranch is a summer camp. We have learned that all people (young in age and young at heart!) love the summer camp classics like: canoeing, archery, swimming (in the Blanco River, pool, or Blue Hole), and rock climbing. Our guided adventure activities are available as an add-on for overnight guests only. We are not open for individual or family day use.
Adventure Activity Options
Canoeing
- Explore Carpers Creek and Blue Hole by boat!
- All ages welcome
- We provide: canoes, paddles, life-jackets (mandatory)
- $5 per person, $30 minimum charge
- 10 people can participate in an hour
Archery and Sling Shots
- Take aim on learning a new skill!
- All ages welcome
- $5 per person, $30 minimum charge
- 15 people can participate in an hour
Swimming in the Pool
- A perfect activity for larger groups
- All ages welcome. Life-jackets are available if needed
- $5 per person per hour of swimming
- $30 minimum charge
- Pool max is 75 people at a time
- Certified lifeguard(s) included
- All guests: individual families and groups require a lifeguard and reservation to enjoy the pool
Swimming in Blue Hole or the Blanco River
- All ages welcome. Life-jackets are available if needed
- $5 per person per hour of swimming
- $30 minimum charge
- Maximum of 30 swimmers at a time
- Certified lifeguard(s) included
- Family reservations (individual families only) can sign our "Family Swimming Waiver" and enjoy our natural bodies of water free of charge during their overnight stay.
- Group Reservations need to make a swimming reservation and pay the participant fee so that we can lifeguard the activity per our insurance.
Guided Nature Hike
- Hike through our beautiful 200 acre nature preserve
- See and hear local plants and animals
- Visit look out point
- $5 per person, $30 minimum charge
- Up to 10 people per hiking group
- Hike lasts 45 min to an hour depending on your hiking speed.
Rock Climbing
- Learn or practice Rock Climbing on one of our natural limestone climbing walls.
- We have a beginner, intermediate, and advanced walls. Tell us about your experience and we will suggest which is best.
- Participants wear helmets and climbing harnesses and are supported by a trained facilitator throughout the experience.
- $5 per person, $30 minimum charge
- 10 people can participate in an hour
- Ages: 6th grade to adult
Rappelling
- Learn or practice rappelling on one of our natural limestone climbing walls.
- We have a beginner, intermediate, and advanced walls. Tell us about your experience and we will suggest which is best.
- Participants wear helmets and climbing harnesses and are supported by a trained facilitator throughout the experience.
- $5 per person, $30 minimum charge
- 10 people can participate in an hour
- Ages: 6th grade to adult
Tractor pulled Hay Ride
- Fun for the whole family!
- $5 per person, $30 minimum charge
- Up to 15 people per hay ride group
- Ride lasts 30 to 45 min
- Let your driver know if there is a particular area you would like to see
Zip Line
- $5 per person, $30 minimum charge
- 10 people can participate in 1 hour
- Age limit: 5 year old - adult
- Weight limit: 270 lbs
